Fady Dagher suspends 2 Montreal officers, reassigns 14 more
fady dagher said two Montreal police officers were suspended on June 13, 2026, and 14 others were reassigned after allegations of discriminatory and racist behaviour toward citizens. The officers are from Station 39 in Montréal-Nord, and the reassigned officers were moved to tasks that do not require contact with any citizens involved in the investigation.

The two suspended officers are under investigation by the prosecutor's office over possible violations of the Criminal Code. Dagher said reports of haircutting were part of the allegations, after La Presse and Radio-Canada reported earlier in the day that officers cut the hair of racialized citizens to turn it into trophies.
The case now places the internal review alongside a criminal-law inquiry. That means the officers under suspension are not only facing workplace discipline, but also scrutiny that reaches beyond the police service itself.
Soraya Martinez Ferrada Responds
Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada said that after hearing about the allegations, she asked the provincial government to accelerate the implementation of body cameras for police officers. She also said, "Any form of racial profiling or violence is unacceptable."
For residents who dealt with Station 39 officers, the immediate change is specific: 2 officers are suspended, 14 others are off contact assignments, and the group tied to the allegations is no longer handling situations involving the citizens named in the investigation. The next step runs through the prosecutor's office review of possible Criminal Code violations.
