Golden Boy Sends Cease-and-Desist Over Garcia-Benn Talk — Dazn Boxing

Golden Boy Promotions is sending a cease-and-desist letter over dazn boxing after a Ryan Garcia-Conor Benn fight was poised to be announced on Paramount+. The move targets Zuffa Boxing, Paramount, TKO Group Holdings and Sela over alleged interference with Garcia.

Golden Boy says Garcia is tied to DAZN, not Paramount+, and has not approved or agreed to terms for any bout with Benn. The letter also names Garcia adviser Guadalupe Valencia, putting the promotion’s control of his next fight at the center of the dispute.

De La Hoya on Garcia-Benn

Oscar De La Hoya said Tuesday there was “there’s no update” on Garcia-Benn and that nobody had talked to him. He added, “I’m hearing rumblings and rumors. Nobody’s talked to me. We obviously have the final say because I am Ryan Garcia’s promoter.”

He also said, “This is the one thing I can tell you: We work with every promoter, even if it has to be Dana White and Zuffa.” But he drew a hard line on process, saying, “As much as I hate it, let’s go. Why not? Because the fighters want this fight. Ryan wants it. You have to work with the promoters to make these fights happen,” and later, “If that’s what Ryan wants, that’s what he’s going to get. It’s a matter of details, a matter that all parties are happy.”

Zuffa Boxing and Paramount+

Sources familiar with the situation said Zuffa Boxing was poised to announce Garcia against Conor Benn at Sunday’s UFC 328 event from the White House on Paramount+. The fight had been rumored for weeks for September 12 in Las Vegas, but Golden Boy’s letter says it has not been involved in negotiations for that bout.

Garcia is 25-2 with 20 knockouts. Benn is 25-1 with 14 knockouts and the No. 1 contender.

Golden Boy's Business Line

Ricardo P. Cestero is handling Golden Boy’s legal move, while Ben Shalom separately accused Zuffa Boxing of “scandalous” conduct and said, “We have to protect our business because it’s dangerous and damages aren’t appropriate,” and, “We need to stop them from being able to take our fighters and staff.” De La Hoya said the parties still need a conversation, adding, “Ultimately, there has to be a conversation, whether they like it or not. We’re going to be on stage together, maybe a few feet away. Maybe the news conference will be more interesting than the fight, because of me and Dana White going at it. I’m ready. You know me.”

For Garcia, the fight line is not just about opponent or date. It is about who controls where he appears next, whether DAZN or Paramount+ gets the bout, and whether Golden Boy’s promoter-rights stance can block a deal that Zuffa Boxing seemed ready to put in public view.
