England Beat Spain 8-5 to Set Up Wales Scotland Results

England beat Spain 8-5 in Scotland results, and Luke Humphries and Luke Littler now move on to Wales in Sunday's World Cup of Darts quarter-finals. England had led 3-0 before Spain fought back into the match, but the top seeds still finished the job in Frankfurt.

Humphries and Littler Hold Spain

Humphries and Littler stayed in front when it mattered most. Littler’s double six gave England a 6-4 lead, and Spain’s Cristo Reyes and Jose Justicia could not close the gap after breaking back in the fifth leg.

Humphries said England’s level was not near its best. “That was probably about six out of 10. We knew it was going to be that way, that we wouldn't average what we do in the Premier League,” he said after the 8-5 win.

Wales Awaits England

The result set up an England-Wales quarter-final, after Jonny Clayton and Nick Kenny beat the United States 8-5 to send Wales through. It gives England a direct chance to erase last year’s shock exit to Germany at this stage, with Sunday’s format moving straight into 15-leg quarter-finals and semi-finals before a 19-leg final.

Quarter-Final Lineup Takes Shape

England and Wales are part of a wider knockout field that already includes Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, the Netherlands and Germany. Scotland’s Gary Anderson and Cameron Menzies opened with an 8-0 win over Norway, William O'Connor and Mickey Mansell beat Poland 8-5 for Ireland, Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney edged Belgium 8-7 for Northern Ireland, and the Netherlands and Germany both advanced with 8-6 wins. Latvia also beat France 8-7.

Humphries said England could build from the first-round test. “I'm proud of the way we fought back. It wasn't the worst performance in the world. It wasn't our best, but having got through our first game we can relax and play how we know we can tomorrow.” He added: “We've had a good test there, so hopefully that pays dividends tomorrow.”
