Katy Perry Leads World Cup 2026 Fifa Opener With 10-Year-Old Tius Luka

Katy Perry headlined the world cup 2026 fifa USA Opening Ceremony at Inglewood’s Los Angeles Stadium on Friday night, June 12, before the United States Men’s National Team beat Paraguay 4-1. The show brought together several performers before the first U.S. match of the tournament, with the stage shared by LISA, Anitta, Tyla, Rema, Future, Dan + Shay and Purahei Soul.

Katy Perry and Tius Luka

Perry performed “Wonder” with 10-year-old Norwegian singer Tius Luka, giving the ceremony its most distinctive pairing. The song choice sat inside a lineup built around the opening match, not a standalone concert, and the timing kept the focus on the tournament’s kickoff in the United States.

Future and Tyla performed the 2026 World Cup song “Game Time” 90 minutes before kick-off, putting that track directly in front of the match window. LISA, Anitta and Rema followed with “Goals,” the official World Cup album song, so the ceremony mixed headline names with music tied to the event itself rather than broad pop hits.

Dan + Shay handled “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the game, while Purahei Soul performed the Paraguayan national anthem. That sequence anchored the ceremony to both teams on the field, with the national anthems sitting beside the entertainment set and the match that followed.

Tom Cruise also appeared in the crowd during Dan + Shay’s anthem performance, sitting with soccer fans as the ceremony unfolded. The United States opening ceremony was the final of three opening ceremonies for the 2026 World Cup, after Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca hosted one on Thursday ahead of Mexico’s opening match and Toronto’s BMO Field staged another ahead of Canada’s opening match.

June 19 for the USA

Tyla was the only artist to perform at more than one opening ceremony, linking the U.S. event to the earlier stops in Mexico and Canada. The next date for the Americans is June 19 against Australia, after a 4-1 start in Los Angeles that gave the opening ceremony immediate on-field weight.
