Brandenburg committees visit Luftwaffe at Schönefeld ILA round tour

Brandenburg Landtag committees visited the luftwaffe-linked International Air and Space Exhibition in Schönefeld on 11 June 2026. The delegation included the Committee for Economic Affairs, Energy and Climate Protection, the Committee for Infrastructure and Regional Planning, and the Enquete Commission on local public transport and the airport region. Hendrik Fischer and Volker-Gerd Westphal also took part.

Berlin-Brandenburg Stand Talks

At the joint exhibition stand of the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region, committee members spoke with the mayor of Schönefeld and with ZF Getriebe Brandenburg GmbH. The exchange put lawmakers, ministry officials, and regional industry face to face inside the exhibition hall rather than in a committee room.

DLR, Fraunhofer, Rolls-Royce

After that, the participants toured the German Aerospace Center, the Fraunhofer Society, Rolls-Royce, and MTU Aero Engines AG. The route shows how the visit moved from a regional political briefing into direct contact with aerospace research and manufacturers.

The most specific part of the day was not the walk-through itself but who came with it: committees responsible for economic affairs, infrastructure, regional planning, public transport, and the airport region all appeared on the same visit list. Hendrik Fischer, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Volker-Gerd Westphal, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Infrastructure, joined the tour, tying the exhibition to state-level policymaking.

That mix matters inside the exhibition because it brought Schönefeld's mayor, Brandenburg ministries, and companies such as ZF Getriebe Brandenburg GmbH into one setting. The visit also showed the practical route lawmakers took through the site: from the Berlin-Brandenburg joint stand to the German Aerospace Center, the Fraunhofer Society, Rolls-Royce, and MTU Aero Engines AG.
