Donegal Draw Dublin as Gaa Draw Sets Round 3

The gaa draw in Tullamore fixed Donegal against Dublin and set four All-Ireland SFC Round 3 ties shortly after 8.30am. Monaghan, Mayo and Dublin also received home advantage in the same draw, with Armagh drawn to face Kerry. The Tailteann Cup semi-final draw came first and sent Offaly against Wicklow at Croke Park.

Tullamore Sets the Bracket

Jarlath Burns and Brian Carroll were present when the All-Ireland SFC Round 3 draw was made in Tullamore. The draw paired Monaghan with Westmeath, Donegal with Dublin, Mayo with Meath and Armagh with Kerry.

Monaghan got home advantage against Westmeath. Dublin got home advantage against Donegal, and Mayo got home advantage against Meath.

Offaly Meets Wicklow

The Tailteann Cup semi-final draw used two bowls to keep Offaly and Down apart after they had already met in Round 2A. Offaly drew Wicklow from the other bowl, and both semi-final games will be played at Croke Park.

The structure of both draws pointed to the same goal: avoid repeat pairings where possible, while still landing the Round 2A losers against the Round 2B losers in the All-Ireland SFC. That left Donegal, Armagh, Westmeath and Mayo drawn from Round 2A, with Monaghan, Kerry, Meath and Dublin coming from Round 2B.

For the counties still alive, the route is now fixed. Donegal go to Dublin, Monaghan host Westmeath, Mayo host Meath and Armagh meet Kerry, while Offaly and Wicklow head to Croke Park for one of the Tailteann Cup semi-finals.
