Alphabet Ties Bermuda Cable Landings to AI Infrastructure Push

Alphabet is tying its bermuda cable landings for Nuvem and Sol to a wider push to control the infrastructure behind AI and cloud services. The new subsea routes add another path for data traffic feeding Google Cloud regions that support customers in North and South America, Europe and beyond.

Bermuda Cable Landings

The cables are part of Alphabet’s effort to sit at the center of the AI stack, from chips and data centers through to model deployment. Nuvem and Sol are meant to support cloud services and other data-intensive applications, giving Alphabet more bandwidth for traffic moving across its network.

That gives the Bermuda landing a practical role beyond a single connectivity upgrade. For customers using Google Cloud, the cables add capacity to the system carrying work across multiple regions, including users in North and South America, Europe and beyond.

Alphabet And Anthropic

Alphabet is pursuing that infrastructure strategy alongside an expanded Anthropic agreement. The deal includes backstopping Anthropic’s multi data center leases and supplying custom chips, adding another layer to Alphabet’s attempt to secure long-term bandwidth, power and compute for Gemini, Anthropic and other AI customers.

The cable work and the Anthropic agreement point in the same direction. Alphabet is not only building routes for data; Alphabet is also helping supply the compute behind the models that ride on those routes.

Google Cloud Routes

The tension in the story is between scale and dependency. Nuvem and Sol widen the network path, but Alphabet is also binding more of its cloud and AI business to large, long-term infrastructure commitments across data centers, chips and subsea cable systems.

For customers in Google Cloud regions, the immediate change is more routing capacity through Bermuda and a clearer sense that Alphabet wants to own more of the chain that keeps AI systems moving. The next step is the continued buildout of that stack, with Bermuda, custom chips and multi-data-center leases all serving the same strategy.
