Eskild Bakke Olsen Signs One-Year Deal With Senators
eskild bakke olsen has a new NHL home. The Ottawa Senators signed the Norwegian forward to a one-year, entry-level contract on Monday. The move brings a 24-year-old coming off production in Sweden and a bronze-medal run with Norway into the organization.
Senators Add Olsen
Olsen finished last season with 11 goals and 21 assists in 52 games for Linkoping HC of the Swedish Hockey League. That output gave Ottawa a winger who produced at a steady rate across a full league schedule, not just in one short burst.
The contract gives the Senators a low-risk way to add a forward who already has professional experience in Europe. It also puts him inside an NHL system after he spent last season in the Swedish Hockey League and then moved into the world championship for Norway.
Norway’s Bronze-Medal Run
At last month's world hockey championship in Switzerland, Olsen was part of the Norwegian team that upset Canada 3-2 in overtime in the bronze medal game in Zurich. He had two goals and three assists in 10 games during the tournament.
That tournament line matters because it shows he produced against top-level international opposition as Norway played through a deep run. His role in the overtime win over Canada paired with the scoring he posted in 10 games, giving Ottawa a recent sample from both league and tournament play.
From Hamar To Ottawa
His professional debut came in the 2019-20 season with Storhamar Hockey Club in his hometown of Hamar. From there, he moved through Swedish Hockey League play and into Norway’s world championship roster before landing the Senators deal.
For Ottawa, the next step is simple: Olsen joins the organization with one-year term and recent numbers that show he can contribute as a forward. For him, the contract is the bridge from European production to an NHL opportunity.
