Crews Order Evacuations Near 15-Acre Stevenson Ranch Fire
Firefighters ordered mandatory evacuations near the stevenson ranch fire on June 15, 2026 after the Max Fire spread to homes in Stevenson Ranch. Los Angeles County Fire Department crews said the blaze was burning near Pico Canyon Park and had reached about 15 acres by 5:40 p.m.
At around 5:45 p.m., crews said homes in the STV-PICO area were under a mandatory evacuation order. Before that, firefighters had issued a shelter-in-place order for people living in the same area as the fire moved toward nearby neighborhoods.
Pico Canyon Park Response
The fire was reported at around 4:20 p.m. in a hiking area of Pico Canyon Park near Magnolia Lane and Autumn Place. Aerial footage showed large flames burning through dense brush on a hillside near a cul-de-sac of homes.
Two helicopters dropped off hand crews, who began shoveling to establish containment lines. Another helicopter dropped flame-retardant material on the hillside as the fire continued to move toward a second neighborhood of homes near Jasmine and Summerhill lanes.
STV-PICO Order
The evacuation order created the most direct consequence for residents in the STV-PICO area, where the fire was close enough to trigger a shelter-in-place order before the evacuation notice. That sequence shows how quickly conditions changed as crews worked the hillside and tried to slow the fire's spread.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation. For residents near the burn area, the immediate step was to follow the evacuation order and stay clear of the homes and roads near the fire zone.
