Elijah Just Reaches $5 Million After Motherwell Breakthrough

Elijah Just reached the Fifa World Cup after a Motherwell season that pushed his market value to €2.5 million, or $5 million. The All Whites midfielder said he has never felt better, and that rise has taken him from €300,000 this time last year to one of the most valuable players in the competition in Scotland.

Motherwell Lifted Just’s Profile

Just called the season with Motherwell the best of his life. He said, “The season was amazing” and added, “It really exceeded my expectations, not only for myself, but also as a team where we were expected to finish.”

That jump showed up in the numbers. He played 30 league matches, scored seven goals and added eight assists, while Motherwell finished fourth in the Scottish Premiership after a run that included hard matches against Celtic and Glasgow Rangers.

One of his clearest marks came in a 1-1 draw against Rangers, when he provided the assist. He also set up two goals in a 3-3 draw against Hearts, a night he later described as a standout and one that arrived early enough to change the tone of his season.

Rangers, Hearts and the Breakthrough

Just said, “We were playing against Rangers and not showing any fear,” then added, “That was obviously a good result and that springboarded us into believing that the way that we were doing things was going to work long term.” Motherwell’s style suited him, and the output turned a strong season into a breakout one.

His path to that point was longer than one Scottish campaign. At 18, he moved to Helsingor in Denmark when the club was in the third tier of Danish football, spent time at two clubs in Denmark and was on loan at St Poltens, a second-division club in Austria, as recently as September last year.

Elijah Just Heads Into Qatar

The World Cup now gives him another test after that climb. Just said, “I improved a lot as a footballer this year and obviously this is the next step,” and added, “The World Cup is a great chance to test yourself again.”

He arrived at the tournament talking like a player whose ceiling has changed. “If you’d asked me, two years ago, a year ago, what I thought my peak was, I probably couldn’t have foreseen the season I had,” he said. “So, am I at my peak now? Yeah, definitely, in terms of confidence and fitness but in terms of what level I can reach now, I’ve kind of opened my own eyes and started to learn a lot more.”
