33-Year-Old Harristown Man Charged After Everton Park Carjacking — Queensland Police News
Queensland police news: a 33-year-old Harristown man was charged after an alleged attempted car theft and assault at Everton Park on 15 June. Police say the incident began around 12:40pm at a red traffic light on South Pine Road, where a 23-year-old man was in a silver Kia Rio sedan.
The man is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on 16 June after being refused police bail. He faces one count each of robbery with violence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle and unlicensed driving.
South Pine Road Arrest
Police say another man opened the driver’s door and began assaulting the 23-year-old while he was stopped in traffic. The victim was pulled from the car before the alleged offender got into the driver’s seat, and the vehicle then left the scene.
While trying to drive away, the man allegedly collided with the rear of a bus and struck a Toyota Hilux utility. He got out of the Rio and fled on foot, before a 33-year-old Harristown man was located at a nearby residence and arrested without incident.
Everton Park Charges
The charge list gives the case its immediate legal weight. Robbery with violence covers the alleged attack tied to the attempt to take the vehicle, while the driving charges reflect what police say happened as the car moved away from the scene.
The 23-year-old vehicle owner received minor injuries and did not require transport to hospital. For him, the case has already moved from a roadside confrontation to a court appearance date, with the arrest ending the immediate search phase.
Brisbane Magistrates Court
The court appearance on 16 June will place the charges before a magistrate only one day after the arrest. The case reference is QP2601145057.
