Manchester United Monitor Lewis Hall as Left-Back Target
Manchester United are monitoring lewis hall as a possible left-back target, with the club looking to strengthen in that spot this window. Luke Shaw is their only senior specialist there, and his contract runs out next summer, so the planning has moved beyond short-term cover.
Hall and Robinson on United's list
Hall is one of two left-backs on the club's radar, with Fulham's Antonee Robinson also being watched as a potential option. Manchester United have Champions League football to look forward to, which has sharpened the need to add depth before the new season begins.
Sky Sports News reported in March that Hall is a player United continue to monitor, and Newcastle signed him from Chelsea for £28m two years ago. Lewis Hall also missed out on Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad, a detail that adds another layer to the move United are assessing.
Shaw, Malacia and Dorgu
The left-back picture at Old Trafford is already shifting. Tyrell Malacia is leaving Manchester United this summer, Patrick Dorgu is expected to continue in a more attacking role under Michael Carrick, and Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui can both deputise if needed.
Harry Amass could also factor in if he impresses in pre-season after a strong first half of the season for Sheffield Wednesday before an injury in January cut that loan short. He is expected to join the first team for pre-season once fully recovered, giving United one more internal option to assess before they decide how much to spend outside the club.
Onana and the goalkeeper plan
United's recruitment list is not stopping at left-back. A back-up goalkeeper is also on the agenda, with Andre Onana not expected to have a chance to compete for the No 1 jersey in pre-season and his future seen away from Old Trafford, while Altay Bayindir is also likely to depart.
That leaves Senne Lammens as the name around which the goalkeeping picture is being built. Radek Vitek is not expected to be the back-up option, and United are set to cash in on him after his successful loan spell at Bristol City last season.
For United, the immediate task is clear: add a left-back with Shaw heading into the final year of his deal and make sure the squad is covered in goal as well. Hall remains one of the names they are watching most closely.
