John Fury Warns Moses Itauma May Be Too Soon for Daniel Dubois
John Fury says daniel dubois may be too much for Moses Itauma right now. The warning lands as Dubois holds the WBO heavyweight title and Itauma sits at No. 1 in the WBO rankings with only 14 professional bouts.
Dubois After Wardley
Dubois took the belt last month by twice climbing off the canvas before stopping Fabio Wardley. That result left him as the man everyone in the division has to work around, especially with Wardley already using the rematch clause in their contract.
Fury, speaking to Seconds Out, pushed the timing issue directly. “I think that it may be too soon for Itauma, too soon. [He is] a dangerous man, Daniel Dubois, and I give him credit for what he has done,” he said.
Itauma’s Fast Rise
At 21, Itauma has moved quickly enough to reach the WBO number one position while still early in his professional career. That ranking puts him on the same route as title fights without giving him the depth of rounds that usually comes with a longer run at the level.
Tyson Fury has sparred both men, giving John Fury a direct comparison point when he talked about the matchup. His warning was not about whether Itauma belongs near the top of the division; it was about whether this fight arrives before he has had enough time to build into it.
Wardley Rematch Looms
The immediate roadblock is the Wardley rematch later this year, with the WBO title on the line again. That keeps Dubois occupied for now and leaves Itauma waiting behind a champion who has already shown he can recover from trouble and finish a fight under pressure.
For Itauma, the number beside his name matters, but so does the 14-fight ledger behind it. A top ranking can move a contender fast; it does not erase the gap Fury sees between promise and readiness.
