Samsung Launches Spidey Tracker With Spider-Man: Brand New Day on Wednesday

Samsung will launch a real-time interactive spidey tracker on Wednesday tied to Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Fans can follow Spider-Man sightings through a live site and an X account, turning the film’s marketing into a running feed instead of a static promo page.

Jeffrey Godsick, executive vice president, global partnerships, at Sony Pictures Entertainment, said, “Spider-Man has always been a hero defined by his connection to his community.”

Samsung Galaxy on screen

The tracker is linked to a story line in which Ned Leeds develops it with Galaxy phones. That gives the campaign a built-in plot device, not just an outside promotion.

Spider-Man will use a Galaxy Z Flip in the film. Ned Leeds will use a Galaxy Z Fold and a Galaxy Watch. The devices show up as props inside the story, which lets Samsung tie the fan experience to specific hardware instead of a vague brand placement.

SpideyTracker.com and X

Fans can monitor SpideyTracker.com and the X account @SpideyTracker for Spider-Man sightings. The custom website will feature cast appearances, interviews, Easter eggs, content drops, and other surprises, so the feed is designed to keep changing rather than sit idle between trailers.

The interactive experience may also include Spider-Man appearances at live events and venues, in popular creator videos, and at a Samsung Experience Store. Keena Grigsby, chief marketing officer and vice president of mobile experience at Samsung Electronics America, said, “Incorporating Galaxy technology into such a beloved Spider-Man storytelling world gives us a chance to showcase how even your friendly neighborhood hero relies only on Samsung Galaxy.”

July 31 film release

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is expected to hit theaters on July 31. Jeffrey Godsick said, “Teaming up with Samsung helped bring that spirit to life on screen and beyond, integrating the technology people use every day into Spider-Man’s world while also bringing innovative and fun new ways for fans to engage through the Spidey Tracker.”

The open question is whether the tracker will stay limited to the Wednesday launch window or keep adding new sightings and drops through the film’s run to July 31.
