Ruben Amorim Takes Ac Milan Job on Three-Year Deal
ac milan have appointed Ruben Amorim as their new head coach on a three-year deal. The move gives the 41-year-old a fresh start after Manchester United sacked him in January following 63 games in charge.
Amorim’s Milan ambition
Amorim said coaching AC Milan had long been one of his ambitions. He described the club as a place defined by history, prestige and an extraordinary fanbase around the world, and said he could not wait to begin.
“There are ambitions that stay with you throughout your career, and coaching AC Milan has always been one of mine,” Amorim said. “I know exactly what this club means: history, prestige and an extraordinary fanbase around the world.”
He added: “It is a challenge I embrace with pride and enthusiasm, fully aware of what these colours represent.”
From Old Trafford to San Siro
The appointment closes one chapter that ended abruptly in January, when Manchester United removed Amorim after 63 games. His time there was marked by emotional and inconsistent behaviour at Old Trafford, and a refusal to adapt and evolve his preferred 3-4-3 system helped break confidence in him.
That background sits alongside Milan’s own reset. Massimiliano Allegri was sacked after failing to secure Champions League football, leaving the club to turn to a coach who has already spoken openly about wanting the Milan job.
Before his dismissal, Amorim had made his preferred title clear at United. “I came here to be the manager of Manchester United, not to be the coach of Manchester United,” he said, adding: “I will do my job until another guy is coming here to replace me.” At Milan, his official job title is head coach, and the club has now tied that role to a three-year deal.
