Annabel Croft Watches Moutet Take 6-4 Set Before Queen's Stops
annabel croft had the final match of the day at Queen's cut short when Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard v Corentin Moutet was suspended because of bad light. Moutet had just taken the second set 6-4 after Perricard edged the opener 7-6.
Moutet Forces a Decider
Perricard won the first-set tiebreak 7-6, but Moutet answered by taking the second set 6-4 to pull the all-French first-round match level. The pair were then stopped before the third set could begin, and Moutet went for a toilet break before the next set was due to start.
Queen's Day One Results
The suspension left the Queen's opening day with one match unfinished, but several other first-round results were already in. GB's Harry Wendelken lost to Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets, and 2024 champion Tommy Paul beat Zachary Svajda.
Denis Shapovalov also came through a long one against GB's Jack Pinnington Jones. Pinnington Jones forced a third set after winning the second 6-4, then fell 6-7 in the decider as Shapovalov used his experience and instinct and finished with a diving volley that left him stranded.
Bad Light Alters Queen's
The Mpetshi Perricard-Moutet match was the last one scheduled in the live coverage from day one of the men's event, so the stoppage pushed the conclusion into tomorrow. That left Moutet with momentum after the second set and Perricard with a tiebreak set already banked, a split that will carry straight into the restart.
