Canada Raises Group B Odds With 1-1 Draw Tsn Login

Canada’s tsn login position improved after Qatar and Switzerland played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday. The result left Group B tightly packed and pushed Canada closer to the knockout stage. Joel Waterman called the situation “wide open” after Canada’s own 1-1 draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina last Friday in Toronto.

Waterman on Canada’s Group B chance

Waterman said, “We want to top the group.” Canada now has an 87 per cent chance to reach the round of 32 and a 43 per cent chance to finish first, according to The Athletic. Michael Caley, the soccer analytics expert and author of the Expecting Goals newsletter, gives Canada a 53 per cent chance of finishing first and a four per cent chance of exiting at the group stage.

Canada’s opener against Bosnia-Herzegovina delivered its first-ever point at the global showcase. That broke a run in which Canada had lost all six of its contests at the 1986 and 2022 tournaments combined. The draw also made the standings less forgiving for every team in Group B, because Canada and three other teams are tied after the opening matches.

Qatar at BC Place Stadium

Canada faces Qatar on Thursday at Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium. Waterman said, “Big game on Thursday to beat Qatar and then we’ve got to try and beat Switzerland as well.”

The next step is concrete. The Group B winner is scheduled to face a third-place team from Groups E, F, G, I or J in Vancouver on July 2. The winner of that match would advance to the round of 16 at BC Place Stadium on July 7.

Group B routes in Vancouver

The second-place team in Group B will face the runner-up from Group A in Los Angeles on June 28. If Canada finishes among the tournament’s top eight third-place teams, it would face either the Group E winner in Boston on June 29 or the Group D winner in Santa Clara, Calif., on July 1.

That leaves Canada with a clear short-term target and a sharper long-term incentive: finish first, and the route stays in Vancouver longer. Finish lower, and the bracket quickly sends the team elsewhere.
