Håll Sverige Rent reports Halland cleanup drew 673,225 participants

halland’s Skräpplockardagarna finished for the year on 10 June 2026 after 673,225 people took part and helped remove 379 tons of litter from nature. Håll Sverige Rent said the campaign ran for the 22nd time and brought in 577,067 children.

The scale reached far beyond one group of volunteers. The organization said participants came from 7,325 schools and preschools and from more than 400 associations, companies, and organizations. Almost one in three children aged 1 to 16 in Sweden took part, according to the press release.

That broad spread is what separates this cleanup from a smaller local effort. Håll Sverige Rent described Skräpplockardagarna as Sweden's largest environmental action for young people, and the participation figures show it reached classrooms, preschools, and outside groups at the same time.

Arjeplog, Hofors and Älvkarleby

The highest share of participating children was in Arjeplog, Hofors and Älvkarleby, while Gävleborg led counties by share of participating children. Stockholm had the highest number of participating children. Those rankings point to the campaign’s uneven reach: some places saw deeper participation rates, while the capital accounted for the largest total.

For readers tracking the campaign’s practical result, the key numbers are already in place: 673,225 participants and 379 tons removed. The event has closed for this year, and the published totals now stand as the record of what the campaign delivered.
