Morson Group Sacks 2 Over Homerton Station Confrontation — Rail Staff Dismissed After Confronting Passenger At London Station
Two rail staff dismissed after confronting passenger at london station after a filmed exchange at Homerton station in east London drew a viral response online. Morson Group said the two wellbeing support officers were no longer engaged by Morson Vital after an internal investigation.
The company said the pair had been at the station to provide safeguarding and wellbeing support. It said the operatives failed to follow their training, did not meet strict behavioural standards and did not explain the purpose of their intervention while wearing non-compliant uniform that should have included visible ID.
Homerton Station Exchange
The confrontation unfolded on a platform at Homerton station, where a female commuter asked the two men for identification during the exchange. She accused them of calling her a little tramp and a little Karen, while one of the men told her: “You’re shouting, you’re raising your voice, there are little kids here,”
The woman also said: “Who are you? You’re not even wearing proper uniform. You’re telling me you’re not TfL, you think you’re a security guard.” The video then spread online, turning a station-side argument into a personnel issue for the company that employed the workers.
Morson Group Investigation
Morson Group described the pair’s actions as “not acceptable” and said it carried out a thorough investigation after the incident. In a statement, the company said: “We can confirm that two operatives engaged by Morson Vital to provide visible safeguarding and wellbeing support at Homerton Station approached a female commuter who had become animated during a phone conversation on the platform.”
It later added: “Since this incident, we have carried out a thorough investigation. Our investigation concluded that the individuals involved did not adhere to their Morson Vital training.”
Morson Vital Uniform Rules
The company said the workers were meant to provide visible safeguarding and wellbeing support, but it also tied the dismissal to how they presented themselves on duty. Morson Group said the operatives failed to follow strict behavioural standards and failed to communicate the purpose of their intervention while wearing non-compliant uniform, which included visible ID.
“As a result, these operatives are no longer engaged by Morson Vital,” the company said. For passengers at Homerton station, the immediate result is that the two men seen in the viral video are no longer working there under the Morson Vital arrangement.
