Bo Nix Says Denver Broncos Ankle Is Ready for Full Go

Bo Nix said Tuesday that his Denver Broncos ankle is healthy enough to let him be full go right now, a clear update after the broken bone and cleanup procedure that followed his late-January surgery. The third-year quarterback said the concern around the injury is being overstated, and Sean Payton already has him on track well before training camp in July.

Nix spoke at the start of mandatory minicamp after being cleared for limited action in Monday's practice. He was direct about where he stands now, saying, "I could be full go right now if they wanted me to."

He also brushed aside the anxiety that has built around the ankle. "It's a broken bone, for crying out loud," he said. He added that the ankle is back "healthy as good as new," and said he may move around a little bit better because of the recovery.

Sean Payton’s July timetable

The injury began in January, when Nix hurt his right ankle late in the Broncos' Divisional Round playoff victory over the Bills. That ended his postseason availability after the wild-card run and kept him out of the AFC Championship Game loss to the Patriots at home.

Late January surgery followed, and a recent cleanup on the ankle addressed bone spurs and swelling. That sequence explains why Monday’s limited work mattered: it was the first on-field step back into full team activity, and Tuesday’s comments pushed the outlook forward again.

Payton said Nix would be good to go well in advance of training camp in July, which lines up with the quarterback’s own view of his recovery. Nix said his focus now is on a great completion percentage, putting the ball in play and cutting down turnovers as he enters his third NFL season. He also said his goal every year is to win the Super Bowl and MVP.
