Tornado Warning Near Cincinnati on Wednesday Night, Wlwt Says
Wlwt says parts of the Tri-State were under a tornado warning Wednesday night as severe weather moved into the area. The National Weather Service also issued a tornado watch for the entire Tri-State area until 5 a.m. Thursday.
Damaging winds could gust up to 70 mph, with large hail, heavy rain, flash flooding and a few tornadoes possible. Strong to severe storms were expected to move in between midnight and 6 a.m., with the highest threat from midnight to about 5 a.m. Thursday.
Tri-State weather levels
Parts of the Tri-State were in an enhanced risk level 3 out of 5 for severe weather, while a majority of the region remained under a slight risk level 2 out of 5. Overnight, strong winds were expected to develop, with gusts over 35 mph possible before the storms reached the area.
The timing leaves little room for a quiet overnight window. Showers and thunderstorms were expected to continue from midnight to about 5 a.m. Thursday, then start clearing between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m.
Thursday morning commute
Flooding, downed trees and scattered power outages could still affect the Thursday morning commute. Lingering showers could remain until the afternoon before moving out, and skies were expected to turn partly cloudy with breezy winds after that.
Temperatures were expected to stay in the low 80s Thursday, then fall into the upper 50s by Friday morning before rebounding into the upper 70s Friday afternoon under mostly sunny skies.
