Tornado Warning Cincinnati Covers Hamilton, Butler and Clermont Counties

Tornado warning cincinnati covered Hamilton and Butler counties until 1:30 a.m. Thursday, while Clermont County remained under a warning until 1:45 a.m. The National Weather Service Wilmington office said a radar confirmed tornado was detected in the Boone County area at 12:26 AM Wednesday, and more than 9,000 people lost power across the region.

Hamilton County Overnight

Warnings also extended into Adams and Brown counties until 2 a.m., with Highland County under the same deadline. Dearborn, Ripley and Franklin counties had a tornado warning in effect until 2 a.m. as the storm line moved east through the Tri-State area.

Boone County Radar Detection

The strongest severe-weather window was expected between 10 p.m. and early Thursday morning, with isolated storms expected around 10 p.m. and spin-up tornadoes possible from 2 a.m. through 6 a.m. The Storm Prediction Center raised the threat level to 3 in much of Indiana and in Hamilton, Warren and Butler counties in Ohio, while everyone else was at a level 2.

That left the highest tornado threat focused in northwestern portions of the region, even as damaging winds, large hail and torrential rainfall remained possible. Duke Energy's outage map showed about 5,000 of the more than 9,000 outages were in Northern Kentucky.

Flood Watch Through Thursday

A flood watch ran from 10 p.m. Wednesday through 10 a.m. Thursday, adding localized flooding to the overnight risk. The storm system was expected to exit by 6 a.m. Thursday morning, with any lingering showers or storms ending quickly after that.
