David Gabriel Georges has dropped a planned Georgia visit and narrowed his recruitment to three schools. The five-star Chattanooga Baylor School running back is near the top of the 2027 class, and his commitment is expected on July 22.
Ohio State Leads The Chase
Ohio State has the clear advantage in the race. Carlos Locklyn has built a close relationship with Georges, met with his family in Quebec, and hosted him on campus for personal visits.
The Buckeyes also had an official meeting scheduled for the final weekend of the previous month. That run of contact helps explain why Ohio State remains in front while Georgia slips out of the picture.
Georgia Falls Off The Visit List
Georges was previously expected to use one of his four official visits on Georgia, but he is no longer planning to make that trip. He said he wanted to focus on schools that fit what he is looking for better and put his energy into the places where he sees himself the most.
That quote leaves the recruitment tighter, not looser. The decision removes one of the SEC names from a race that has also placed Ohio State, Georgia, and two other SEC schools in the mix.
Ohio State’s 2027 Class
The Buckeyes still do not have a running back committed in their 2027 class. Their group is ranked No. 7 and already includes consensus No. 1 edge rusher David Jacobs, No. 3 wide receiver Jamier Brown, and No. 11 edge Wyatt Smith.
Georges now appears to be choosing between fewer options, with July 22 set to bring the decision. Ohio State’s edge, the loss of a Georgia visit, and the lack of a 2027 back in Columbus make this one of the more important recruitments still on the board.
