fox 8 news reports a Tornado Warning for Ashtabula County lasts until 7:30 a.m., while strong winds of 40-45+ mph are expected through mid-afternoon from Cleveland east into the snowbelt. A Wind Advisory remains in effect there as the morning threat shifts and the county warning stays the most immediate concern for people in the area.
Ashtabula County Warning
The warning gives people in Ashtabula County a short window before 7:30 a.m. to move quickly and stay inside until the threat passes. Allan Nosoff, a meteorologist, was live as the weather team tracked the early-morning setup.
Most of the widespread rain and severe storms have shifted south and east into Kentucky and Pennsylvania, but an isolated downpour or storm cannot be ruled out this morning. That leaves the warning area with one urgent risk while the broader region deals with strong wind.
Snowbelt Wind Advisory
The stronger wind concern extends beyond the warning area. From Cleveland east into the snowbelt, gusts of 40-45+ mph are expected through mid-afternoon, and the Wind Advisory is in effect there because of those conditions.
Thursday stays cooler, with highs in the low-to-mid-70s and gusts of 30-40+ mph areawide. A few more isolated showers are possible Thursday afternoon, so the calmer stretch does not arrive all at once.
Weekend Forecast Ahead
Friday and Saturday should bring calmer conditions, though a couple of t-showers cannot be ruled out. Saturday is expected to be partly sunny with a few PM t-storms and a high of 76 degrees.
For readers planning ahead, today is forecast to bring isolated t-storms, cooler and windy conditions, and a high of 74 degrees. Juneteenth is expected to be partly sunny with isolated showers and a high of 75 degrees, before a better chance for rain and storms arrives Father's Day evening into Monday morning.
