Match 74 is set for Boston Stadium on Monday, June 29, and it sends the Group E winners against the third-place team from Group A, Group B, Group C, Group D or Group F.
Match 77 follows on Tuesday, June 30 at New York New Jersey Stadium. That game pairs the Group I winner with the third-place team from Group C, Group D, Group F, Group G or Group H. The U.S. can reach the July 4 game only by finishing third in Group D and then landing in either one of those two matches.
England in Group L
England is in Group L, and that placement leaves no route into the two matches that feed Philadelphia. Fans are hyping a U.S.-England July 4 faceoff, but the bracket makes that matchup impossible.
The U.S. still has work to do in Group D. As of June 17, the USMNT was leading the group after its win against Paraguay, but that position alone does not create a path to England on July 4. The bracket decides who can reach Philadelphia, and England is outside both qualifying lanes tied to Match 74 and Match 77.
