Cllr Liam Barnard saw the air ambulance flying overhead but did not know what was happening at the time. Online air ambulance trackers later showed the helicopter had landed at Moses Gate Country Park.

Moses Gate Country Park response

Fire and police were at Moses Gate Country Park while officers searched the area. The entrance to the country park was blocked off during the search, adding a short disruption for visitors already in or near the park.

The call followed reports of a man in distress. Police were initially unable to find him, which is why the search continued after the first response had arrived.

Barnard's account matches the moment several residents noticed the aircraft before the reason for the response was clear. He spotted the air ambulance overhead while the search was still under way.

Police later said the man had been found safely, and no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. For people at the park, the immediate question was whether the search had ended safely; it had, with the entrance reopened after the response.

Police and Fire and

The sequence was brief but layered: a welfare call, a helicopter at about 4:30pm, officers unable to find the man at first, and a safe outcome by around 6pm. What caused the man to be reported in distress at Moses Gate Country Park was not stated.
