Mitchell and Caitlin Clark

Mitchell became the eighth player in WNBA history to reach the 700 mark from deep. Caitlin Clark matched her with 26 points, and Aliyah Boston added 23 points and eight rebounds for Indiana.

The Fever had enough offense to stay close, but the final stretch belonged to Atlanta. Indiana went on a 9-0 run in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 93-all, then Sophie Cunningham finished a layup at 5:07 remaining to make it even again.

The Atlanta Dream late surge

Atlanta had already built a lead of as many as 13 points in the second half. The Fever could not finish the comeback after their 17th turnover late in the fourth quarter, and the Dream pulled away from there.

That turnover split mattered because Indiana needed every clean possession once the game tightened. Atlanta moved to 10-4, and the margin came down to a short burst after the tie rather than one long run.

Indianapolis and the milestone

The game took place in Indianapolis, with a milestone attached to the box score and a loss attached to the final line. Mitchell’s 700th career 3-pointer put her in a rare WNBA group, but the Fever still left with the defeat after tying the score late.

For Indiana, the useful takeaway is simple: Mitchell is producing at a level that belongs in the league record book, and the team still has to clean up the mistakes that turned a tie game into a 108-101 loss.
