Arsenal are looking into the necessary details before lodging a bid for Bradley Barcola, with Trossard among the names who could feel the effect of that move. The Paris Saint-Germain winger is on Mikel Arteta's list as the club tries to lift the level of its attack.
Barcola and Trossard
Barcola is 23 and has carried over his form from last season for PSG. He also scored on his World Cup debut in France's 3-1 win over Senegal, a chipped finish that doubled France's lead in New Jersey.
That blend of end product and versatility is why Arsenal view him as a player who could upgrade the starting line-up. He could challenge Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard for a place on the left, where Arsenal already have two wide forwards fighting for minutes.
PSG and Arsenal plans
PSG would prefer to keep Barcola, but they are open to reshaping their attack. That leaves room for movement if Arsenal decide the price and structure fit their own plan.
Those plans do not stop at one name. PSG have an interest in Julian Alvarez and Morgan Rogers, while Arsenal could buy both Morgan Rogers and an attacker such as Barcola if the market falls the right way.
Arteta's attack
Arteta's main priority this summer is to raise the level of Arsenal's attack after a season that included a Premier League title and a run to the Champions League final before losing to PSG. Barcola fits that brief because he adds another left-sided option and another route to the final third without forcing Arsenal to rely on one profile.
Will Arsenal actually submit a bid for Barcola, and if so, when? The club is still working through the details, but the competition for a starting place is already taking shape around Martinelli, Trossard and the 23-year-old PSG winger.
