Jaylen Brown Report Puts Boston Open to Inquiries, Not Deals

Boston is not actively shopping Jaylen Brown, but the stance around him has shifted. Jake Fischer reported early Saturday that the club is now fielding inquiries with more openness than in previous offseasons, and that gives the Brown market a different feel entering the summer.

The split is the story: Boston is not pushing Brown out, yet it is not treating calls the same way it once did. That is a narrower lane than a full shop, but it still matters because outside teams can now test the price instead of assuming a door is shut.

Brown is not the only name in that frame. Fischer also said Boston is not actively shopping Derrick White, while noting that the club is receptive to hearing about both players as it weighs roster changes after falling short against New York.

Derrick White’s value

White’s season shows why his name keeps surfacing in that kind of conversation. He played 77 games and averaged 16.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.3 blocks in 34.1 minutes per game, while shooting 39% from the field, 33% from three, and 90% from the free-throw line.

He also earned NBA All-Defensive First Team honors and finished sixth in DPOY voting. In seven playoff games, he averaged 11.1 points on 32.1% shooting, including 27.3% from three, which makes him the kind of two-way piece Boston can use in any discussion about size or balance.

Boston frontcourt search

The broader roster picture points in that direction. Boston wants frontcourt upgrades, has maintained interest in Isaiah Stewart of the Detroit Pistons, and previously inquired about Rudy Gobert, most recently at February’s trade deadline. A Jaylen Brown Looms in Giannis Trade Push for Celtics framework remains the clearest route if Boston ever turns this openness into action for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

That path is still a comparison, not a deal. Boston has to decide whether it wants to keep listening, or whether one of those calls turns into the kind of move that changes the roster around Brown and Derrick White.
