Barrie Drewitt-Barlow and Scott Drewitt-Barlow were charged with 18 more sexual offences at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday. The pair were remanded in custody after appearing in court and will return for a plea hearing in September.
Barrie Drewitt-Barlow faces two counts of sexual activity with a child, two offences of paying for sexual services of a child and causing an individual to engage in sexual activity without consent. Essex Police said Scott Drewitt-Barlow was additionally charged with causing or inciting sexual activity and two counts of rape.
Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday
The new charges add to a case that already spans multiple alleged offences. Police said the men were accused of targeting and grooming young males across the country between 2013 and 2026, and a provisional trial date was fixed for 18 January.
The latest court appearance followed an inquiry that began in May, when police raided the football club and the home in Southwood Chase, Danbury. The club was bought by Barrie and Scott Drewitt-Barlow in 2025.
Southwood Chase and Braintree
Police arrested Barrie Drewitt-Barlow on 6 May and searched his pub in Braintree, The Swan, and the Drewitt-Barlow Stadium in Maldon. A Rolls-Royce was loaded on to a trailer and taken away from the stadium after searches there the same day.
The case has drawn attention because Barrie Drewitt-Barlow is also known for earlier public appearances on Rich House, Poor House and Below Deck Sailing Yacht, alongside his long-running profile as a property developer. Monday's hearing put that public record beside the criminal allegations now before Chelmsford Crown Court.
September and 18 January
The immediate next step is the plea hearing in September, when the court will hear how each defendant responds to the charges already laid out. The provisional trial date of 18 January keeps the case on a fixed path while the allegations, including rape and child-sex offences, remain before the court.
