Nadine Riesen has joined West Ham United on a three-year deal after her departure from Eintracht Frankfurt. The move gives West Ham a 26-year-old full-back with 42 caps for Switzerland as it continues its summer recruitment under Rita Guarino.

Riesen and West Ham United

Riesen said: "When I heard about West Ham's interest in me, I was super excited. It's a huge club with a proud history and I'm very happy to be here." She added: "It already feels like a family here and everyone has given me such a warm welcome since I arrived."

She also pointed to the level she is stepping into, saying: "The Women's Super League is one of the best leagues in the world so this is a massive opportunity for me to continue my development in a new environment, challenge myself and keep doing what I love most."

Rita Guarino's summer signing

Guarino said Riesen is her fourth signing of the summer, after Katie Zelem, Constance Picaud and Laia Codina had already joined West Ham United. That makes this a clear batch of additions rather than a one-off move, with the club building the squad in one window.

Guarino described her new defender as "a full-back with pace and attacking quality that will complement our playing style." She added that Riesen "works extremely hard for the team and has a never-say-die attitude," and said her national-team experience will be valuable.

Eintracht Frankfurt record

The numbers explain why the signing matters. Riesen made 69 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Frauen-Bundesliga between 2023 and 2026, while also gaining experience in the Women's Champions League. She made her international debut in 2019 and featured in all four of Switzerland's matches at Euro 2025, scoring against Norway.

There is one wrinkle in the timeline: West Ham United are presenting her as a new signing after leaving Eintracht Frankfurt, yet the club record places those 69 appearances between 2023 and 2026. That leaves the move’s exact timing and mechanism out of view, but the outcome is clear enough — West Ham has added a defender with league minutes, continental experience and a full international résumé. For the club, the immediate change is another experienced option in the squad; for Riesen, the next step is the Women's Super League.
