Glastonbury Pride is moving its main daytime site to Tor Leisure for Sunday, 26 July. The free community celebration now has room for more stalls, food, entertainment and family activities across the day.
Organisers say the new main site will add a proper stage for daytime entertainment, a fun dog show, a Pride Sports Day for all the family and a free bouncy castle. The day will also bring back free face painting, a quiet zone and community stalls.
Tor Leisure on 26 July
The move matters because the main daytime site is the part of Glastonbury Pride where visitors spend the day, so the shift to Tor Leisure changes the scale of what can be offered in one place. The new site will also include more community stalls, food vendors and ice cream, with access to the Tor Leisure bar and coffee shop.
The Glastonbury Pride March will return as part of the day, and it will be fully marshalled by the Carnival team. Pride events will also run across Glastonbury, including at The Queen of Cups, The Rifleman's and The Beckets, while the after party returns at Lavender Vespers.
Free daytime activities
All daytime activities will be free thanks to support from Tor Leisure, The National Lottery Community Fund, Glastonbury Town Council, sponsors and volunteers. That keeps the event open while the programme gets bigger, which is the trade-off at the heart of this year’s move.
Organisers said, "We can't wait to celebrate with you all." The practical question now is how many people turn up for the larger site on Sunday, 26 July, because that will show whether the extra space and added programme have matched the ambition of the move.
