A three-vehicle crash held traffic on the northbound M6 in Staffordshire just before noon on Monday, June 15. The collision happened between J15 and J16, and two people were being assessed by medics at the scene.
West Midlands Ambulance Service on the M6
Two ambulances were sent after a 999 call from police at 11.59am. The response was concentrated on the northbound carriageway, where the crash affected motorists approaching the stretch between Newcastle-under-Lyme and Crewe.
National Highways warned drivers to expect delays of 45-minutes on the approach while traffic was held. That left a clear knock-on for anyone already on the route through Staffordshire, where the northbound carriageway carried the disruption.
National Highways update at 12.45pm
An update at 12.45pm said traffic had been released, but two lanes remained closed. That meant the hold had ended, yet the road was still not fully back to normal for drivers passing J15 and J16.
What caused the three-vehicle collision was not stated. For motorists using the M6 through Staffordshire, the immediate route was moving again by 12.45pm, but the reduced carriageway still meant slower passage after the release.
