Trevor Bauer Signs With Diablos Rojos del México After Ducks Run

Trevor Bauer signed with Diablos Rojos del México on June 22, 2026 after leaving the Long Island Ducks. The move ends his run in Long Island after seven starts and sends him back to Mexico.

He left with a 5-1 record, a 2.36 ERA, 66 strikeouts and just seven walks in 42.0 innings pitched. Bauer also threw a no-hitter on April 26 at Lancaster, then struck out 15 batters in a May 12 outing versus Gastonia.

Bauer’s Ducks line

The timing matters because the Ducks said Bauer was the fifth Long Island Ducks player to have his contract transferred in 2026. He also was named the Atlantic League’s April/May Pitcher of the Month, which helps explain why his departure lands as a roster move with real weight rather than a routine shuffle.

Bauer thanked the Long Island Ducks organization and the people around it in the announcement. He said, "I want to thank the Long Island Ducks organization for giving me the opportunity to be part of the team." He added, "I’d also like to thank my teammates, the coaching staff, the clubhouse staff, and everyone behind the scenes who made my time here so enjoyable."

Michael Pfaff on the move

Trevor Bauer also said, "The support from the fans and the Long Island community has been truly special." He described sold-out crowds at home, packed stadiums on the road, and fans traveling from all over the Northeast just to watch him pitch. He said he met people after games, signed autographs, and spent time with fans and their families, and that he was excited to rejoin his teammates with Diablos Rojos as they pursue a third consecutive championship.

Michael Pfaff said Bauer exceeded every expectation during his time with the Ducks. He added, "While we had hoped to see him return to Major League Baseball from Long Island, we are excited for this next opportunity and wish him continued success in Mexico." Bauer’s path now points to Diablos Rojos and the Mexican League, not back through Long Island.

Diablos Rojos return

For the Ducks, the move closes out a short but productive stretch from a pitcher who delivered results on the mound and attention off it. For Bauer, it shifts him straight into a new clubhouse with a championship chase already set in motion, and he closed the announcement by saying, "I hope our paths cross again in the future."
