Kenny Miller backs Rangers to lead Mikey Moore chase

Kenny Miller believes Rangers are at the front of the queue for Mikey Moore if Tottenham make the 18-year-old available for another loan. He said a return to Ibrox would suit all parties, with Rangers already planning for a big summer of recruitment.

Mikey Moore and Rangers

Miller was blunt about where he thinks the next move should land. Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: "I would be surprised if Rangers are not already all over Moore if there's going to be another loan deal for him."

He added: "I would be very surprised if Ibrox wasn't his destination given he spoke so fondly about his time there, how much he enjoyed it and how it's been a really good spell for his development. What a place to be an 18-year-old winger, what a place to be plying your trade."

That view rests on Moore’s previous spell in Glasgow. Miller said the teenager had a really good run at Rangers, and that he became familiar with the building, the fans and the demands of the club after settling into a wide role during the season.

Ibrox and Tottenham

Moore’s time at Rangers did not start perfectly. Miller said: "As a young player, it took him a little bit of time to settle at Ibrox. But then you saw his qualities come through as the season went on."

He said the winger then made the left-side role his own and began to show a level of consistency that stood out. Miller also said Moore became one of the first names on the team sheet in that front line, with his youthful exuberance and direct running making him a regular option.

The link back to Rangers is built on fit as much as form. Miller said Tottenham want Moore to continue his development with regular first-team football, while Rangers are looking to put better players into their starting lineup during a big summer of recruitment. In that setting, he said, it makes sense for Moore to end up back at Ibrox.

Other suitors for Moore

Miller did not treat Rangers as the only option. He said there would be other suitors for Moore, and that competition would be part of any move if Tottenham decide to sanction another loan spell.

He summed up the case this way: "I'm sure there'll be other suitors, but based on the season and the success that he did have this year, as well as the way he spoke about his time at Ibrox, it would be surprising if he isn’t back there next year."

For Rangers, the practical takeaway is simple. If Moore goes on loan again, they already have a strong case built on playing time, familiarity and a spell Miller described as productive for his development. If Tottenham do not open that door, the chase ends before it starts.
