BYU turned its busiest on-campus recruiting weekend into three commitments. Jaxson Rex, James Thorley, and Kamoni Adams all joined the 2027 class after official visits that stretched into Father’s Day.

That moved BYU to nine commitments in the cycle and gave the program a 76th-ranked class in the 247Sports Composite. The number is still early, but it is the kind of jump that shows the weekend produced immediate returns instead of just a long list of visitors.

James Thorley’s June 21 call

James Thorley was the first of the three to go public, posting on June 21, 2026 that he had committed to Brigham Young University. The kicker/punter from Burke, Virginia is rated a five-star specialist by Kohl’s Specialist camps, and he chose BYU over an offer from Colgate.

He kept the message personal. In his post, Thorley wrote, “Blessed to announce my commitment to Brigham Young University! I’m so thankful to my Heavenly Father, family, coaches, and all of those who have supported me along the way.#GoCougs@kalanifsitake @dyl_almond @Justin__Ena @HKA_Tanalski @mdoc376 @moorepete18”

Jaxson Rex joins BYU

Jaxson Rex added another layer to the class on the defensive side. The safety from San Clemente, California picked BYU over UCLA Bruins, continuing a family link that already runs through the program.

He is the nephew of former BYU All-American tight end Byron Rex and the cousin of current BYU running back Preston Rex. That makes his commitment more than a simple depth add; it ties another family name to a roster that already has those connections in place.

Kamoni Adams after Maryland

Kamoni Adams completed the trio on June 22, 2026 and brought the clearest recruiting edge of the group. The cornerback from Marietta, Georgia was the third cornerback to give a verbal commitment to BYU in the 2027 cycle, and he was rated the 76th-ranked cornerback nationally in the 247Sports Composite for that class.

Adams had offers from ACC, Big 12, and SEC programs, yet he chose BYU weeks after taking an official visit to Maryland. He is listed at six-foot-0 and 170 pounds, and he has been clocked at a 10.7 100-meter dash in track and field during his prep career.

Shortly after Adams announced, current BYU starting cornerback Therrian Alexander III posted fire emojis on X. That reaction fits the class picture now in front of BYU: nine commitments, three of them from a single weekend, and a ranking that gives the program a real number to build on rather than just a batch of names.
