Karen Derrico was arrested after authorities accused her of threatening to kill Deon Derrico and the couple’s children. She was later arraigned on June 23 on felony charges tied to the alleged threats. The case now moves toward an Aug. 6 court date.

Authorities said Derrico, charged under the name Karen Evonne Carter, violated a temporary order for protection against domestic violence on June 17. They said she sent emails to Deon that were unrelated to parenting matters and included the line, “I want you dead. I could kill you and it won't even bother me to go to jail.”
The complaint also says she threatened to kill him and the children if they stood in her way. In one alleged June 17 email, she wrote, “I could kill you and it won't even bother me to go to jail and I'll kill any of my kids if they take your side.”

Authorities said the threats left Deon in reasonable fear of death or substantial bodily harm. They also said a family court order was put in place in April, and that she allegedly tried to stop him from attending a court proceeding tied to the protection order. The complaint lists charges of violating a temporary restraining order, harassment, aggravated stalking and preventing or dissuading a witness from testifying or producing evidence with immediate threat or use of physical force.
The stalking charge stems from allegations that she threatened his immediate safety by claiming she had a gun and would kill him, his new girlfriend or his children. The criminal complaint also says she allegedly told him on May 2 to watch out, said she was getting a gun and/or would have someone kill him before he could go to court, and added that she believed killing him would be easy and would see to it that he dies a slow death.
Aug. 6 return
Jess Marchese, who represents Karen, said, “The allegations are completely false” and “and we will prove they were completely fabricated by Mr. Derrico.” Karen and Deon appeared together in Doubling Down with the Derricos and shared parenting 14 children before their 2024 divorce. With the felony case now arraigned, the next step is the Aug. 6 court return, where the charges and the protection-order allegations remain in place for further proceedings.
