Portable air cooler stock has tightened as temperatures reached the mid 30s degrees in parts of the UK, leaving shoppers with only a few retailers still listing models for quick delivery or collection. Sarah, who reviewed an Amazon portable air conditioner, described it as “effective, easy to use and surprisingly low noise”.
That matters for buyers trying to cool a home fast: many of the top-rated portable air conditioner models reviewed by the source had already been out of stock for days. At publication, the remaining choices were scattered across Amazon, Argos, AO.com, Very, Appliances Direct, Currys, B&Q, Screwfix and Marks Electrical, but not in the same mix of models.
Amazon and Argos stock
Amazon still had steady stock of portable ACs, including a Dreo model, and one portable AC was available for delivery tomorrow. The retailer also had fast delivery on a range of powerful fans, giving buyers a quicker route than waiting for fresh AC stock to appear.
Argos listed next-day delivery on Shark and Bush fans, while one portable AC there had exclusively 5-star ratings from shoppers and was the last one in stock. That Argos unit also featured a sleep mode and wheels for easier transport across the home, and a slimline and compact AC was available for delivery from Friday.
Appliances Direct and Marks Electrical
Appliances Direct had three portable air conditioners still in stock, while Marks Electrical had a De'Longhi portable AC under £300 still available. Currys had only Toshiba fitted air conditioners left, and B&Q had a Dreo air conditioner still in stock.
Screwfix had one air conditioner remaining, and it was only available for collection. AO.com listed Dyson tower fans as the only ones left, while Very still had a range of tower, pedestal and desk fans.
Limited stock across UK retailers
Portable air conditioners are presented as the best way to genuinely lower home temperatures, but many of the top-rated models were already gone for days before these listings were checked. The practical difference now is speed: a buyer who wants a cooling device has to choose between a small number of remaining units, next-day fan delivery, or collection from the store that still has one air conditioner left.
For anyone buying during the heat, the fastest options were the ones already labelled for tomorrow, Friday or collection. The remaining stock is thin enough that the first usable model is the one most likely to disappear before the temperature does.
