London Ambulance Service in W5

The ambulance service said it was called at 2.29pm to reports of a road traffic collision in Ealing Broadway, W5. In its statement, it said: “We sent a number of resources including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, a volunteer emergency responder crew and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.”

It also said: “We treated three patients at the scene and took one of them to a major trauma centre by road as a priority. The other two patients were taken to a local hospital.” For anyone trying to reach The Broadway in Ealing, the immediate effect was a road closure through the shopping area rather than a short delay at the kerbside.

The Broadway and Spring Bridge Road

Inrix said A4020 The Broadway was closed in both directions from B455 High Street to Spring Bridge Road due to an accident. The closure covered the stretch between High Street and Spring Bridge Road, matching the area where traffic and access were blocked after the collision.

Footage shared on social media appeared to show an air ambulance landing close to the scene. A witness in a video posted to X said, “This looks serious,” and described one person being picked up and put into an ambulance, with two people lying on the floor.

That account adds a complication to the ambulance service statement: one person was moved into an ambulance while two others remained on the ground when the video was recorded. The basic facts line up — three injured, all taken on for treatment — but the sequence at the roadside shows how quickly the scene developed.

The immediate question for people in Ealing Broadway is what caused the vehicle to strike the pedestrians outside Marks and Spencer. Until that is established, the practical reality for drivers, shoppers and bus passengers is simpler: The Broadway was closed in both directions between High Street and Spring Bridge Road after the collision.
