Emma Raducanu cut short her Wimbledon practice session on Saturday after taking the court with strapping on her right ankle and lower leg. The Wimbledon 2026 Emma Raducanu update leaves her scheduled first-round match against Antonia Ruzic under a cloud before Monday at 1pm.

She had been due to hit for two hours, but the session ended 10 minutes early after a spell that began without obvious trouble. Raducanu was also due to speak at a press conference on Saturday afternoon, and that was moved to Sunday 20 minutes after she walked off court.

Aorangi Park and Court Three

Raducanu first hit at the All England Club's Aorangi Park practice courts, then moved to Court Three with Anna Kalinskaya. She made it through the first hour and a half without any alarms, then stayed largely in one position before starting points against Kalinskaya.

The practice score was 4-0 to Kalinskaya when the session turned worrying. Raducanu then abruptly ended it, adding another interruption to a build-up that already included no training at Wimbledon on Thursday or Friday.

Raducanu's stop-start week

The setback lands in another stop-start spell for the British No 1. She missed two-and-a-half months during the spring because of a post-viral illness, then reached the final at Queen's Club two weeks before Wimbledon after rehiring Andrew Richardson as her coach.

She won the US Open in 2021 with Richardson in her corner, but this week has carried a different edge. The next step now sits with her body, not her seeding: if she is not fit enough to play Antonia Ruzic, Monday's first round will change shape fast.
