Ayoub Mouloua has joined Aberdeen from FUS Rabat on a three-year deal with a club option for a fourth season. The Moroccan striker finished the 2024/25 Botola Pro campaign as joint top scorer with 11 goals, giving Aberdeen a forward with a proven record rather than a long-term project.
He completed his medical at Cormack Park before signing, and he said he is really looking forward to playing at Pittodrie for the first time. Aberdeen said the move makes him Stephen Robinson's eighth permanent recruit of the summer.
Robinson's Morocco trips
Stephen Robinson said Aberdeen had tracked Ayoub for several months and made a number of trips to Morocco to watch him play. He described him as a brave, aggressive striker who gives a real physical presence in attack, while also stressing that he is mobile, works tirelessly for the team and knows where the goal is.
Robinson also said the striker is still only 23 and has room to grow, after Aberdeen moved to bring him in from FUS Rabat. The club said Mouloua is only the second player to make the journey directly from Rabat to the north-east of Scotland, following Hicham Zerouali almost 27 years earlier.
FUS Rabat numbers
Mouloua's recent output explains why Aberdeen pushed ahead. He scored 19 goals in 41 starts for FUS, then added 11 in the 2024/25 Botola Pro campaign to finish level at the top of the scoring chart.
He also made two appearances for Morocco in the African Nations Championship against Angola and Kenya, adding more senior experience to the scoring record Aberdeen are buying into. Born in Rabat, he came through the FUS system before making this move north.
Aberdeen waiting on clearance
The transfer is not fully complete yet. Aberdeen said the move remains subject to international clearance and visa formalities, so the paperwork still has to be cleared before he can fully settle into the squad.
Mouloua said it is a great honour to join Aberdeen, thanked FUS Rabat for where he began his career, and said he will work as hard as he can every day to help bring success to Aberdeen and its supporters. For Aberdeen, the immediate issue is straightforward: a striker is signed, but access to him depends on the last administrative steps being finished.
