Carlos Alcaraz misses Wimbledon with wrist injury — Alcaraz Wimbledon

Carlos Alcaraz is out of Wimbledon this year while he recovers from a wrist injury, leaving the tournament without its two-time champion. Alcaraz Wimbledon now shifts from a title defense to an absence, and the 23-year-old has not played since April.

He withdrew from the Barcelona Open in April because of pain in his right wrist, then chose to skip the defense of his French Open title. Since then, he has spent several weeks with the wrist immobilised in a cast and has missed the entire grass-court season.

Carlos Alcaraz and the cast

The injury has not required surgery, but it has kept his wrist still for long enough to rule out a return for the grass swing. He is reportedly dealing with inflammation in the wrist tendons, a problem that can linger if it is not handled carefully.

That is the complication inside the simple headline. Alcaraz is a two-time Wimbledon champion and a seven-time grand slam champion, yet he is missing the event while trying to get the wrist back to full use.

Wimbledon without recent finals

The absence is sharper because he has played in the last three Wimbledon men’s finals. He beat Novak Djokovic in a five-set final in 2023, defended his title in 2024, then lost to Jannik Sinner in last year’s final.

Wimbledon’s seeding picture has also changed around him. Jannik Sinner is returning as the top seed, Alexander Zverev will be the No 2 seed, and the field no longer has Alcaraz in the spot he would normally occupy as world No 2.

US Open return

For now, the path points beyond Wimbledon. Alcaraz’s possible return is aimed ahead of the US Open later this summer, and the longer he stays in a cast, the more recovery time he has to clear before that next major.
