Gary Glitter has been charged with historical sexual offences dating back to 1978. The case involves one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and three counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14, with one alleged victim linked to the allegations.
Paul Gadd, whose stage name is Gary Glitter, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 5 August. The Metropolitan Police said the allegations were first reported on 9 January 2025, and the investigation led to the charges now before the court.
CPS London and Bethan David
Bethan David, the CPS London Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor, said: "This follows allegations made by a woman relating to a period of alleged abuse that took place between 1978 and 1981." She also said: "Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring this case to court and that it is in the public interest to do so."
The charges point to alleged conduct over a three-year period at a residential address in Kensington. The case has now moved from investigation to court proceedings, with the alleged victim being supported by specialist officers.
