Police said all individuals involved have been identified. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is expected to complete an autopsy later on July 5, and additional information will be released as the investigation continues.

Road closures at Hampton Beach

Authorities announced about 6:20 a.m. that portions of P Street, Ashworth Avenue and Ocean Boulevard were expected to remain closed for a period of time. For people trying to move through Hampton Beach that morning, the practical change was limited access around the scene while investigators stayed on location.

John Formella, New Hampshire's attorney general, joined Mark Hall, a New Hampshire State Police colonel, and Alex Reno, Hampton's police chief, in the announcement. They said there is no known threat to the public even though the shooting left a man dead and remains under active investigation.

The autopsy expected later on July 5 is the next procedural step in the case. That examination can help establish cause of death and support the work already underway at the scene, where investigators are still gathering information from the area near P Street.
