Ederson Silva deal stays on as Manchester United wait

Ederson Silva’s move to Manchester United is still on, even after a social media post suggested the transfer had collapsed. The £35million agreement remains in place, and the delay is tied to his time with Brazil at the World Cup.

United And Ederson Silva

Tyrone Marshall said the move is still ON, with the deal fully agreed by both Manchester United and Atalanta. Ederson will have his medical after the World Cup, so the transfer has not moved through to its final step yet.

That leaves United with a clear summer priority in midfield. They have lost Casemiro, and Manuel Ugarte could spend up to a year on the sidelines with a serious knee ligament injury, so the club are still working through two additions for that area.

Andrey Santos And Chelsea

Ederson is not the only name in the frame. Manchester United have long been credited with interest in Andrey Santos, who is at Chelsea and valued at £50million by the club.

He is not untouchable, multiple enquiries have gone to his entourage, and he wants to be a fixture of the Chelsea side. For now, though, he sits behind Moises Caicedo in the pecking order, which keeps the door open without making a move straightforward.

Alex Scott And Felix Nmecha

Another line of search runs through Alex Scott and Felix Nmecha. Mark Critchley said the two names he had heard most prominently were Alex Scott at Bournemouth and Felix Nmecha, and he added that there has been contact from Manchester United to explore the parameters of a deal for Scott.

Bournemouth are very insistent that they do not want to sell Scott, so United are dealing with resistance on one target while still holding Ederson’s £35million move in reserve. The next step for that deal is simple: once Brazil’s World Cup run ends, the medical should follow.
