Ford is carrying out a Ford Mustang US vehicle recall covering 110,626 vehicles in the U.S. across two separate safety actions. The recalls involve certain Mustang, Mustang GTD and Mustang Mach-E models, and Ford and NHTSA said dealers will repair or replace the affected parts free of charge.
Mustang and Mustang GTD
The larger action covers 67,842 Mustang and Mustang GTD vehicles. Under certain cold-weather conditions, the windshield wipers may operate only at the high-speed setting, and the windshield washer system may not function properly. Ford and NHTSA said reduced visibility could increase the risk of a crash.
That leaves owners with a practical next step: check whether a Mustang or Mustang GTD is among the vehicles included, then wait for a dealer repair once the notice arrives. The fix is not a paid service visit, because the remedy will be handled free of charge.
Mustang Mach-E
Ford is also recalling 42,784 Mustang Mach-E vehicles in a separate action. In those vehicles, the rear differential pinion shaft may fracture, which could lead to a loss of drive power or unintended vehicle movement if the SUV is parked without the parking brake applied.
Ford and NHTSA said that defect increases the risk of a crash. For owners, the distinction matters because the two recalls are tied to different parts and different failure modes, so the vehicle population in one campaign does not tell a driver whether the other campaign applies.
Ford shares flat
The recalls come as Ford shares were flat in early trading, even though the stock was up more than 5% year to date. That makes the safety actions a separate issue from the market’s short-term reaction, and it keeps the focus on repairs rather than share movement.
Owners of affected vehicles should expect Ford to direct the remedy through dealers, where the company said the affected components will be repaired or replaced at no cost. Which exact model years and build dates are included in the two recalls remains the deciding detail for drivers checking their own vehicles.
