Donna Webster Describes Baltimore Bus Crash That Injured 33

Baltimore County resident Donna Webster said the crash in PIKESVILLE was the worst she has seen in more than 30 years after an MTA bus hit a FedEx Office building on July 8. At least 33 people were injured around 6:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of Reisterstown Road.

Webster said, "I've been in this community for over 30 years, this is by far the worst I've ever seen. The worst." She also said, "My daughter used to work right in that FedEx building...It's just so sad hearing about all the casualties, cars scattered all over the place. I've never seen this."

Seven other vehicles were involved, and one rolled over. The bus driver and another person in a vehicle were trapped after the crash, then rescued and taken to the hospital in critical condition. By 7:18 p.m., all patients had been transported.

A medevac helicopter and Shock Trauma GoTeam were sent to the scene, along with Howard County and Anne Arundel County ambulances. BGE crews responded because of downed power lines. MD 140 Reisterstown Road was closed in both directions between Old Court Road and Sudbrook Lane while crews worked.

That same response triggered a second mass-casualty incident alarm, and a Family Information Center Line was opened for loved ones seeking updates. Officials said drivers should expect extended road closures and use alternate routes. For readers trying to track the impact, the closure covered the main stretch through the crash zone, and the lanes stayed blocked while the response continued.

Kathy Klausmeier and Wes Moore

Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier said, "my heart is with everyone affected by the crash and I want to thank our fire, EMS, and police crews for their swift response and care to those injured. We will keep them and their families in our prayers." Wes Moore said his administration was closely monitoring the situation and that officials were working in close coordination on the ground. Jalen Conaway, who saw the scene, said, "This is a crazy sight to see."

The unanswered point is what caused the MTA bus to crash into the FedEx Office building. Until that is known, the practical takeaway for drivers is simple: avoid MD 140 through PIKESVILLE and plan for delays on Reisterstown Road between Old Court Road and Sudbrook Lane.

Donna Webster on July 8

Webster's account is the one that lingers: a neighborhood she has known for decades, a building her daughter once worked in, and a crash that left cars scattered across the road. Baltimore had an active emergency response on its hands, and the immediate burden for anyone nearby was getting around the closed corridor and waiting for the family line to provide updates.
