Maya Hawke and Christian Lee Hutson recently bought a home in upstate New York, and the place sits a couple of blocks from Uma Thurman’s. The move folds a new marriage, family proximity, and a filming schedule into one address change.
Hawke is 27 and turns 28 on July 8. In a July 5 interview, she said the production of The God of the Woods “shoots in the town that I grew up in,” placing the home purchase alongside her work on the Netflix limited series across the Hudson River Valley and the Adirondacks.
Valentine’s Day wedding
Hawke and Hutson married earlier this year in a surprise Valentine’s Day wedding in New York City. Both of her parents attended, along with several co-stars from Stranger Things, where she played Robin in Stranger Things. That puts the home purchase in the same year as the wedding, a quick sequence that makes the new household feel less like a future plan than a present one.
The location matters because Hawke is filming while settling into the house. She is working on The God of the Woods for Netflix at the same time the couple has planted itself near Thurman’s place, which is close enough for a couple of blocks to matter in daily life. For a production that is already moving across the Hudson River Valley and the Adirondacks, the move keeps Hawke close to both work and family.
The God of the Woods
Hawke’s line about the town she grew up in gives the move a practical edge. A home in the area does more than mirror the job; it reduces the friction of living between sets, family, and the kind of local familiarity that cannot be recreated on a location schedule.
July 8 gives the story its next marker, with Hawke turning 28 shortly after the interview. The sharper question is not whether she and Hutson can settle into upstate New York, but why they chose a home only a couple of blocks from Thurman’s place while Hawke is still working through a production spread across the Hudson River Valley and the Adirondacks.
