McDonald's BT21 Happy Meal starts July 14 at participating U.S. restaurants, putting 10 BT21 toys into limited-time boxes for the first U.S. release of the character line. Each Happy Meal includes one toy at random, so collectors cannot pick a specific character at the counter.
The promotion brings BT21 into Happy Meals for the first time in the U.S. BT21 was developed by BTS members with LINE FRIENDS, and the lineup reaches back to the franchise’s 2017 launch while giving McDonald's a collector-friendly run without changing the food inside the box.
KOYA, CHIMMY, and TATA
Seven of the toys feature individual BT21 characters on ring clips made to attach to bags or keyrings: KOYA, RJ, SHOOKY, MANG, CHIMMY, TATA, and COOKY. RM is represented by KOYA, Jimin by CHIMMY, and V by TATA, while VAN stands for ARMY. That mix gives the set a clear split between character-driven pieces and the broader group identity.
An eighth toy features VAN, the ninth shows the full group together on a ship, and the tenth is a poster with stickers. The random distribution means the chase is in the box itself, not in a menu change or a food upgrade, and that is exactly why buyers who want a full set will likely need more than one Happy Meal.
HappyMeal.com QR code
Scanning the QR code printed on the Happy Meal box opens a digital experience at HappyMeal.com, where fans can mix music and animate the BT21 characters. No new food items are part of the promotion, so the draw is the toy set and the digital add-on rather than a menu refresh.
McDonald's said supplies are limited, and no end date has been announced for the U.S. run. The last BT21 Happy Meals appeared in 2023, when the promotion was limited to Asia, so this launch is the more accessible version for U.S. buyers. If you want the set, the practical move is simple: go early, because the box only guarantees one random toy, not the one you want.
