Genie Bouchard's first summer as a broadcaster at Wimbledon has already produced one of the more visible crossover moments of the tournament. The former tennis star linked up with Rachel Stuhlmann at SW19 this past weekend and the two created content together, including a drink review of Pimm's.
A new role at Wimbledon
Bouchard is in a different place this summer than she was during her playing days, when she reached the Wimbledon final in 2014 before losing to Petra Kvitova. She called time on her tennis career last year, and this summer marks her first time working with the at the Grand Slam. It is another sign of how her profile has shifted from the court to media and content, while still keeping her connected to one of tennis's biggest stages.
Rachel Stuhlmann, a content creator who posted multiple photos from her Wimbledon trip, described the experience as "Tennis heaven. How lucky am I to be able to do all that I do within the sport I love?" That pairing gave Bouchard another way to show up around Wimbledon beyond her broadcast work.
On-air with Andrew Castle
Bouchard also had a light moment during her coverage this past Saturday, when she was on Centre Court for Grigor Dimitrov's third-round victory against Matteo Berrettini. During the broadcast, Andrew Castle asked her, "Do you speak Italian?" Bouchard replied that she did not, adding that she was seeing "a lot going back and forth between Berrettini and his box, which is right behind me."
She followed that by saying, "Unfortunately only English and French I can do for you guys," before Castle joked, "I don't know, it's the Italian we're looking for Genie." Bouchard's response summed up the exchange neatly: "Is that it, am I fired?"
For Bouchard, the moment fit the broader picture of a former player settling into a new public role. She has moved into pickleball and broadcasting, and her Wimbledon appearances this week show how quickly she has become part of the event's media conversation.
